For the most part, I enjoyed book. There were a lot of things that I liked about it. I love anything to do with Scotland, castles, and the paranormal. I liked Duncan and Kara's chemistry. I loved how it flipped from present day to the past, telling of two love stories. There was romance, action, mystery and suspense. Definitely enough to hold my attention!

Unfortunately, there were things that I felt were odd, confusing or out of place. 1. I felt there should have been more information on the ghost and more interaction with him. 2. Duncan was so skeptical when it came to Kara's psychic ability, kept thinking she was playing him, but then later on in the book says that his mother was a psychic. If his mother was one, it should not have been so hard to believe. 3. Some of the sexual lines were just bad. One would expect that someone as smooth as Duncan would not talk as if he were in a bad 80's porn flick. It's hard to explain, but it just wasn't sexy. Most of it was just corny. I've never read a book that made me wish they would hurry and get the sex scene over with. The scenes were better towards the end of the book, though. Also, who in the world is going to start talking about the female's ex-boyfriend when they are about to have sex???? That was just really odd. 4. It was like Kara had dual personalities. One being a normal, confident female and the other annoying, insecure, and shy. 5. I had really hoped for a better ending. Yes, there was a HEA, but I would have liked to have been told how the magazine issue she was working on throughout the story turned out. I also would have liked to have read about Kara and Duncan getting married. It just seemed like a hasty ending. I'm sorry if it seems like I am complaining too much. Overall, the book was great. I just feel there are things that could have been improved.

Bride of the Mist Draycott Abbey Novels Christina Skye Books Reviews

It kept my interest from start to finish. I wanted to give it 5 stars, but truthfully the subplot of ancient history was confusing, and tedious at times. I was riveted by the characters in the present, and was unhappy there was not another book to continue where this one stops. It had a great balance of intrigue, danger, romance and suspense. The main characters were well developed. I was sad to see it end.
I really liked this book. The way the author seamlessly plots her way through both the past and the present and ties it all together is wonderful. the characters are written so full of life you could believe they are real, the story is just as believable. This is the first book I have read by this author and it will not be my last.
Of the books I've read by this author, this one is my favorite thus far. Once I started reading the paranormal Bride of the Mist, I could not put it down.

The duel (past and present) plots took a number of twists and turns towards the HEA. The writing was great with complex characters and dialog. The bad guys were diabolical and the good guys were likable.

I look forward to reading more of Christina Skye's books.
I love Christina Skye, no matter what she writes. Her characters are memorable from book to book and the scenarios are always different. You don't end up with half a book of recaps froms another one and the plots keep you going until the week hours of the morning. You can't go wrong with any book she writes. I have already read five books in the Draycott Abbey series and will read them all.
The passion, suspense, everything about these stories are wonderful. I enjoy reading and even re-reading them. They are so tastefully written. I can't put them down until the last word is read. They are worth every minute spent reading and every cent purchasing. I am looking forward to reading the next one, and the next one.........
I bought this book. A long time ago (15 + years?) I read several of the Draycott Abbey books and loved them. Ms Skye has not disappointed me. This one really is a 6 star. Kara is a sensitive and has helped police when they hit the proverbial brick wall. It takes a lot out of her. So she decides to go to Scotland and try to convince the owner of the Dunraven Castle to allow a bride's magazine to do a photo shoot. That way she can hide from the police and do her job for the magazine. She has had reoccurring visions and words that didn't make sense. Will the visions keep her from doing her job? What about the words she hears that are linked with Dunraven Castle?
I really enjoyed this story. It ties along with 'Hour of the Rose' as my favorites in the Draycott series.

The pairing of Duncan and Kara is explosive. I couldn't get enough of their interactions. They loved, argued with such passion. At times I felt so rung out after all the emotional turmoil they had to go through. I loved that Kara was psychic and could sense Duncan's every emotion. It would be interesting to have such a gift knowing your husband could never get away with a lie.

I did think the secondary story, of the two as past lovers seemed unnecessary. It was nice to read, but IMO, it didn't really add to the plot with the small exception of the long bow. The cat and mouse hunt with Duncan's brother Kyle was more than enough to sustain the tension throughout.

A couple of things seemed inconsistent. Michael Burke is Nicholas' half-brother but he is referred here as merely an old friend. In 'Bridge of Dreams' he was Uncle Michael to Genevieve, but now, that connection is intentionally glossed over? Also, in 'Bridge of Dreams' I recall Genevieve was mentioned as being 5 years old. That story occurs before this one, yet now the child is said to be 4 yrs. old. It's a small quibble I know, but it just stuck out for me.
